Privacy Policy

Kithpost is an independent community app for military families. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the U.S. Department of Defense or any branch of the armed forces. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. You must be 18 or older to use Kithpost.

Information we collect

We only collect what we need to run the service:

Account details you provide: your name, email address, and password (passwords are handled by our authentication provider and are never stored by us in readable form).
Profile information you choose to add: photo, role, home base, hometown, interests, and bio.
Content you create: posts, comments, marketplace listings, photos and videos you upload, and the messages you send to other members.
A push notification token for your device, so we can notify you about activity such as messages, replies, and reactions.

We do not collect your precise device location. Your "base" is a place you select yourself, not your GPS position.

How we use your information

To create and secure your account and verify your email.
To run the community: show your posts, listings, and profile to other members of your base, and deliver messages between members.
To send notifications you have allowed.
To keep the community safe (reviewing reports, removing content or accounts that violate our rules).

How we share information

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising. Content you post (profile, posts, listings, comments) is visible to other members as part of the app's normal function. We share data only with the service providers that power the app: Google Firebase (authentication, database, file storage) and Expo (push notification delivery), and only so they can provide those services to us. We may disclose information if required by law.

Data security and retention

Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) and stored with our cloud providers. We keep your information for as long as your account is active.

Deleting your data

You can permanently delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete account inside the app. Deletion removes your profile, posts, and listings and cannot be undone. You can also email us to request deletion.

Children

Kithpost is intended for adults. You must be 18 or older to create an account. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above.
